Boutique of the Month - Bare Skin Beauty
Juliette Scarfe, the brains and the beauty behind Bare Skin
Beauty, is passionate about making truly wholesome products which
nourish, regenerate and deeply cleanse the skin. At our recent Shopping
Morning, our FCaNK friends were given a hand cream miniature to sample
and all adored it! Every single product is handmade from natural
ingredients. So natural in fact that they are edible. Fur Coat can
testify to that, as Mini Fur Coat an adorable five year old, ate some
moisturiser and lived to tell the tale!
Juliette personally formulates these exquisite products which are created using low-heat techniques to preserve the delicate nutrients within the cold-pressed oils, exotic plant butters, herbs and essential oils. Definitely worth sampling! Check out the products and stockists at www.bareskin-beauty.co.uk or at our Boutique.
Wedding styling Part II
Be careful how you cover-up!
A good rule to follow is never regard the cover-up as an
afterthought for your outfit. Although it never takes centre stage, it
has the potential to make or break your look. No Knickers thinks it may
be better to shiver your way through a wedding event, than kill your
fabulous outfit with a thoughtless, fashion gesture. (Dress by Elaine
Closs)Pashminas
FCaNK have a word to say about the over-worked Pashmina. We think that most of the time they represent a lack of imagination, thought, fun, joy, fashion confidence and money! The fact that Oxford Street market stalls are bulging at the seams with them should give you a clue that they have been resigned to the world of wedding accessory tat. FCaNK are firm believers in growing your wedding accesso
ry wardrobe. No Knickers has trinkets,
scarves and shawls from her travels when she was ten to her most recent
vintage charity shop purchases. Falling in love is a key component in
your wedding outfit and wearing a vintage accessory that you fell in
love with all those years ago, simply adds to the sentiment of the day.
If you haven't started creating your wedding fancy-dress treasure trove,
now's the time to begin. If you are going abroad, look for fabulous
scarves, shawls, crochet knits and organza drapes. Fur Coat loves
scarves for draping and this one on the right from Liberty is our
favourite! It is a gorgeous mix of romantic understatement and heart
prints to furnish your outfit. Boleros and Shrugs
Material and texture is an all important consideration in the cover- up decision. For a formal wedding, an organza or satin Bolero is a fabulous addition. If the wedding is a dress down event, a woolen shrug may be a perfect decision. You need to
gauge the event
carefully and wisely. Elaine Closs designs fabulous, unique boleros in
numerous fabrics. We think her designs are money really well spent.
This satin bolero on the right is a beautiful statement garment which
completes the outfit wonderfully! For a more relaxed event, we t
hink these Brora Cashmere shrugs are fabulous easy to
wear staples that will keep you warm in the evening on your return home
from a fabulous party! Just be careful that this style doesn't drown
you. If you are a tiny framed individual..steer clear!! Oh and we're not
advising you to copy the head girl Brora scarf styling in the picture
we have chosen!Phase Eight and Coast specialise in wedding outfit trauma and have boleros and cover ups in their plenty. It's certainly worth taking a peek. FCaNK particularly love their felicity feather Bolero for £55 but be careful how you accessorise...with bling and a tan, you may look like an Essex WAG. So be warned ladies!
Crowning
Glory!
Whether you choose a fascinator,
headpiece or full scale hat will depend on your outfit, the event, your
personality and your personal style. FCaNK are a bit concerned that the
fascinator has become a cheap highstreet option for "dressing up for a
do"! A fascinator needs as much thought and care as a hat, even thought
it may be a cheaper option. Fascinators add drama to an outfit and suit
sharp lines, perfect with Victoria Beckham styling. However, if your
outfit is romantic and girly, a fascinator will kill it. So be careful
and don't just consider colour in your choice for head accessories but
also carefully consider styling. We love this headpiece by Rachel Trevor -Morgan a perfect example of
fascinator drama!
For a romantic
look FCaNK love Gina Foster hair
accessories. This buttercup hairband and eau sauvage hair accessory
(below right) are lovely romantic additions to an outfit. Very beautiful
for marking a romantic occasion.
FCaNK think all our friends should own a hat box, and a few hats for weddings as well as a wide brimmed, hide the tears hat for a funeral. Whoever said that romance is dead! The problem with hats is that they have to match your outfit which is fine for a funeral but for a wedding this is a bit more tricky. Charity and vintage shops are often brimming over with fabulous hats, that are just divine and if you can't bear the thought of a second-hand hat, hiring hats are the other cheap answer.
If you are a virgin hat buyer here are a few tips:
- Start with an
essentials colour that can easily match a handbag or a pair of
shoes.
- Avoid the neutral, beige, floppy straw hat, this tends to drag down your wedding outfit's sophisticated appeal.Unless you are going for country girl floral styling in which case it's perfect!
- Feel the drama of your outfit and style accordingly, if
you are unsure what we mean, have another look at our newsletter pic

perfect introduction to Millinery!
Until then..happy days glamorous ladies!
