Autumnal colour ways
The blacks and greys of last season are still present this season but Autumnal browns and golds are making a bid to be the on trend seasonal colours. High street shops look like an orchard floor of autumnal leaves and crushed plums. Camel is making an enormous come-back and for those of us who love Camel, it's time to invest because it may disappear again next season. A cautious word about camel. Although it is a marvelously handsome colour it has many hues. If you compare Camel colours you will notice that some are more green, others golden and a few have peachier tones. We recommend that you look carefully at the various Camel colours against your skin tone because the green tones can be particularly draining for a fair complexion. Shop around to find your perfect colours!Coats
If you pay no attention to any other fashion styling this season...consider your coat. This season, the coat plays an important part in the fashion drama and bold statements, frills, drapes and edgy tailoring are key signatures for this season.- As predicted the "slanket" has made its way onto the catwalk in the form of a winter cape. Although we think a cape is fabulously romantic and endearing, we think it will fast be a seasonal "has been" and will be lining the sales shelves by mid-December. If you happen to love, want and need a cape, we recommend you throw caution to the wind and style with huge throw scarves, statement boots and thigh high socks...if you have the legs for them! If you have boobs... then beware of the cape...it will quickly transform you into a district nurse. Those of us who are well endowed need to keep the cape open and use it more as a shawl, because buttoned up, it will do you very few favours!
- There are some fabulous military statement coats this season, as well as frills and sharp, edgy styling. Unusual silhouettes and bold sleeves with even bolder shoulder details are all stealing the show. This styling is perfect for those of us with rounded shoulders and bad posture...these styles will broaden our shoulders and sharpen our look.
- Faux
fur is much improved this season with some very cute faux fur coats. We
would advise you to steer well clear of light coloured furry faux
because it is very cheap and a bit tacky...unless of course you are
paying over £100 for it, in which case it may well be worth it!!
Florals
FCaNK are excited that Liberty prints are back in for another season. In this age of austerity, these fifties floral prints are perfect for blackberrying and making pies. Cinched in at the waist with a skinny belt and opaque tights or worn with loafers and knee high socks, these feminine florals have very cute seasonal appeal and will add a touch of cheer to the winter ahead.High waisters and cigarette pants
Trousers are making a bid to steal some of the fashion stage this season. High waisters are with us for another season and I am already a fan.. if you doubt me...read my Dawn Tinsley blog! These leg lengtheners are perfect for a simple touch of Burberry styling! High waisters need careful styling. Chiffon shirts and box jackets look particularly fabulous. However, if you cannot bear the throw back feel of the high waister, the cigarette pant may be preferable for you. These cute little skinny fit trousers are simply begging for a statement shoe and shirt to liven up your fashion styling, or add melodrama with a pair of on-trend fashion opaques. More about that later! No Knickers Feet
Shboots are a FCaNK seasonal winner. If you didn't buy them last year they are a must for A/W 2010. Fabulous with the mini pencil skirt, which is fighting its way back into our working wardrobe, with jeans or for the evening with a floral dress. Remember this season, is all about bohemian fashion drama and the fight is on for attention to your legs and feet. Tights will be ridiculous this season, with floral, lace and animal prints leading the way. Be brave but watch out for tart value and accessorise carefully especially if you are over thirty! Statement tights are great with the long boyfriend cardigans from last season and a cutey floral dress. Don't be afraid to mix and throw textures and colours together this season, the more bohemian and thrown together the better!Until then..happy days glamorous ladies...go fourth and live a little!
