River Island seems to be following in the footsteps of Topshop in terms of boutique and vintage styling.  River Island have developed a "story" based on trendy employees called the 'insiders' who are 18 – 30 year old fashionista's living it blonde!  Don't let this put you off. Although much of their styling is particularly teenage, there are some fashion pearls to be found!

  • Dresses for skinny pins

 

Purchase With Care


Branding Alert!
River Island like to label their handbags on the outside.  This depreciates the look.

Stock is limited
Stock for size 14 + is very limited.

Animal Print Alert!
Watch out that you don't look trashy if you are over 30. Never buy animal print from here!

Mix and Match
This is definitely a place to mix and match.  If you don't, you run the risk of looking like an 'Insider' from the River Island website.

Price Alert!
River Island is not bottom end cheap and you don't always get more quality for your money.

We think that it is a matter of knowing what style you are sticking to before you even walk in. That way, you won't get carried away and purchase a very on trend item that will look ridiculous back home in your wardrobe!

Well I couldn't agree more about river island, although I would suggest that for the lass over 25 tred with care - it can appear a little cheap and the concern of dressing way to young has often occured to me when browsing in River Island - I would suggest for the over 30's stay clear - there are better stores out there. But they do have some fab looks for younger folks who can experiment more and get away with wet look leggins!
