The Daylesford Look

As I have been offline recently and blogging rarely, you might imagine that I have been lazying and lunching without a care in the world. Sadly, the No Knickers lifestyle isn't quite stretching that far!  No, sadly, I have been fighting in every corner; sitting exams, wooing potential employers, fighting the fear of a VAT hike on fashion and making two very short ends meet!

However, BBQ's and invitations to Daylesford with rich friends are coming in thick and fast and my summer wardrobe isn't up to it! I have conjured up my favourite summer outfit for a relaxed casual event that demands a touch of chic without being ostentatious! My black jersey staple dress with a statement wedge, bangles and beads is my signature BBQ outfit..hurrah!

Your legs and skin tone are super important for this outfit so a touch of fake tan is an ultimate necessity. I am so grateful for the L'oreal sublime range. I have found it really easy to apply, streak free, doesn't stain, and looks fabulously natural for a week. When it fades, it fades all over rather than in patches which is a joy! It is brilliantly cheap and my best friend for this Summer. Thankyou L'oreal

Even in these days of austerity there are happy days to be had, my dear No Knickers friends!

xx

Where to buy jeans?
Ruth on 15-7-2010

Hi I live in Sussex and need to buy a pair of jeans, something appropriate for my late 30s age, smart enough to wear to work (we can wear jeans) and feminine. Or, on reflection, maybe I need more than one pair! Anyway, I've heard of places where you get good advice from staff to find great pairs of jeans. Any suggestions in my area or, if not, in London. Thanks Ruth

Hi there Ruth, Thanks for your comment. Have you checked out our Jeans page? http://fcank.com/clients/fcank/jeans I am not sure of your budget so I will give you our Fur Coat and the No Knickers favourites! The current Fur Coat favourite are Serfontaine jeans. They retail for around £185 each. They are organic and fair trade and best of all they last! They look great! If you want a slightly higher waisted jean, then we go for Not My Daughter's jeans - women from their 30's through to their 60's have been known to wear these! For a No Knickers option, New Look can be okay if you stick to the plain Jane jeans. They tend to go overboard with their bling factor! Mango can be a good option as can Zara if you have no extra bits on your thighs. Top Shop are a great place to start with what style of jean helps you. You asked about good advice. We go for the boutiques and also places like Selfridges and on a good day, John Lewis. I am afraid that I have only mentioned London here! Sorry! I am not really familiar with Sussex. Good online advice can be found at www.ilovejeans.com. My advice on jeans (and I love jeans!) is to buy a few pairs. I have dark skinny jeans for winter. J Brand are my personal favourite. Although there are loads of No Knickers options out there. I also have straight jeans for summer and winter. One is dark for winter and the other is lighter for the summer months. As I said, my current favourites are Serfontaine jeans. I also have a pair of white long jeans and a pair of capri jeans (Max Mara bought on sale) for the Summer months. So, much to my husband's horror, that is 5 pairs of jeans! I dress them up or down with flats and wedges for the summer. Boots for the winter. Love them!! Does that help? Fur Coat
