Gap
For the classic American girl! Great basics in muted tones. FCaNK has fallen in love again with Gap. With their efforts to clean up their ethical and fair trade act, they are again within our radar. This is a fab shop for fine knit jumpers, T shirts and essentials shirts. Come here if you want a good cut and styel at a good price. You can't beat £39 for a pair of chinos or classic slouchy linen trousers, can you?!
We also love the Gap Mailing List. Sign up for this and you will regularly receive emails alerting you to their 30% discount shopping periods! So No Knickers! We also love their personal stylist service that is offered in selected stores.
Don't go to Gap for an edgy fashionista look. Rather shop here for classic chic essentials, work basics and of course the obligatory Gap jeans! For good value and comfortable chic, Gap outer wear, coats and jackets are reasonably priced and their mac is often a winner season after season. The staff are always helpful, warm and friendly, which is a big plus in a climate where that aspect of shopping is often sadly lacking.

Don't over do it!
Be careful if you buy too much from Gap because it won't make a big statement about you and you will look a little too much like an off the peg "All American Girl"!
Bag Alert!
We haven't found the bags hugely inspirational over the last few seasons. They can be quite pricey but a little bit dull and staid.
Material Alert!
Check the fabric mix on the label. There are fabulous basics in other bottom end high street stores so you have to ensure that fabric quality is what you are paying extra for!
Watch the Leather!
Watch the leather bags. It may not be very soft and as you are paying £100 ish, you should expect soft leather.
