I am not too sure about the seventies fashion...although FC Husband and I did cut dashing figures at a friend's birthday party recently.I chose matching outfits for us. See photo! The wig that I am wearing is a Farrah wig. This fulfilled a life long dream to have hair just like Farrah's. I used to spend quite some time in front of the mirror flicking my head backwards and forwards willing my hair to fall like Farrah's did when she was an Angel in the 70's. Alas it never did, so when I spied the wig in the Party Shop, I leapt at the chance to be Farrah for a night. FC Husband wore a Steve Austin like wig and looked fab!
Seriously though, does the fashion world need to return to that time? Well, my answer if yes for some of the fashion and a definite NO for others. The NO being for tight high waisted bell bottom jeans that look hideous on everyone except the most anorexic of models. You do not need to see a camel hoof staring at you as you pass someone on the high street!
What I do like is the Jodie Foster look. Tailored trousers with a streamlined short sleeved shirt. Hair in a straight bob and a big flouncy hat to top it off. See our upcoming February newsletter for more on that.
I myself will embrace the colour of the seventies or rather the clash of colours in big blocks. There was something bold about this fashion. Maybe everyone had matured after the sixties and were not afraid to let their colour shine through? Who knows but that will be me this summer. Bold colours, wedges and a big hat. Hang on, hasn't that been the case for the last few summers?!
