Blogroll

I am on the hunt for a chunky cardigan that doesn't have a price tag of £200+!

I went shopping with my savvy Swedish friend, Madeleine, today. You might recognise her as the friend who is a genius at sale shopping!. See our lowdown on Secret Sales for more of Madeleine's genius!
I should preface this blog by telling you that Fur Coat Husband is currently between jobs. He got a new job in August, resigned and went on gardening leave ( a lovely period between jobs where the crazy banks pay you to not work!) for a couple of months. His former employer then decided to dice out a bit of pain for us and impose a  "Restraint of Trade" clause, meaning that FC Husband can't start his new job for another two months. Gardening leave was fine as he was paid. Restraint of Trade Clause Leave is downright unpleasant as  he is not paid. For two long months! The result is that my purchasing wings have been well and truly clipped!
Anyway, back to today. Madeleine and I found ourselves in Iris on the Northcote Road (other branches in Queens Park and Chiswick) where we uncovered  some divine knits. This year, it all seems to be about chunky cardigans in an assortments of weaves that wrap snugly around your body. I love them and decided then and there that I had to get one before the week was out! That was my plan until I saw the price tags. Now, you know I don't mind dropping a bit of cash on clothes, but £216 for a cardigan, that may or may not be in next year,  is a bit rich. Iris is a great shop with some really funky designers, but due to ROT Leave and high prices, I left there with my tail between my legs. Defeated.
Next, wPeople Tree Clarae went to Question Air, again on the Northcote Road (other branches in Barnes, Notting Hill and Wimbledon). Now that shop was positively brimming with really groovy chunky cardis but alas, at even more stellar prices. We are talking, £300!! I left pretty quick again.
Tonight, I went online - I love the internet - in my search for a reasonably priced cardi. I went to People Tree and found a fabbo chunky cardi made from 100% wool for £85. Now that is more like it and it's fair trade! Check it out on the left.
I can't get a photo of this one, but click on this link that will take you to the French Connection site. A very cool wool cardi awaits you there!
Signing off for now,

Happy days!
