At FCaNK we give you an honest view of fashion. We think it's important for you to  live happily and stylishly without feeling restricted by the contents of your purse. We offer creative ideas to help you shop intelligently and imaginatively, helping you to make stylish lifestyle choices within your budget.  Fur Coat shopping is about investing in a good quality item that will see you through the years…but never at full price! No Knickers shopping is having a bit of fun with a cheap frivolous purchase.  So dip into our treasure trove of advice!

Who Are Fur Coat & No Knickers?

Suzie and Emma are Fur Coat & No Knickers. We are two friends, one of us with the metaphorical "Fur Coat" and the other metaphorically known as the "No Knickers."  Emma has ridden the rollercoaster of liquidity and knows what it is like to be at the bottom and at the top of the cash pile. She is now cashless since she and her husband have put the breaks on.  Suzie, on the other hand, was brought up with a silver spoon in her mouth, but married for love and not money. Since then, Suzie has relied on Christmas gifts and Primark to keep her wardrobe and lifestyle afloat.

In the Winter of 2008, the winter of discontent, we decided to cost up what each other were wearing. Emma was shocked to find that she came in at £740. This hefty sum did not include make-up, beauty products and hair style.  Suzie, on the other hand, came in at £160 (which included boots and a coat).  Price wise there was a huge, gasping gulf between us and over a very large coffee we began to unravel some of the concepts to dressing and living sylishly with less whilst also investing in certain quality goods that will be loved for life.

 We decided that style is not about money and the right labels. It is about confidence and bravery.  For those of us who weren't born a stylist, we won't always have the eloquence that our friends might have in choosing colours and throwing outfits together.  Our website has been put together by us to give us all the confidence to try new ways to have fun with fashion, dress up and mix and match labels, high street and vintage. 

So, what is Fur Coat & No Knickers?  FCaNK is intelligent consuming and living a lifestyle that is well within our means. 'Fur Coat' consuming  is long term investment in quality items and services.  Never at the full asking price though!  'No Knickers' consuming is saving money where you can without losing style.

Fashion is only the beginning of the Fur Coat & No knickers story and we will keep you abreast of our sublime and ridiculous plans for the future. Until then...
