A moth battle update
I am sad to report that the moths have claimed a mammoth victory in the ongoing battle. Ironically, their moment of celebration comes as a result of my own efforts to protect my exquisite purple silk jersey dress.
After the "de moth man" had worked his magic in our house, I was only too aware that I must continue to dissuade any new moths from taking root and laying eggs etc in my home.
In early June, I set about bagging up my precious goods, including my gorgeous purple dress. I bagged it up with another silk dress, along with moth balls in a suit bag. As the purple dress was too long for the bag, some of the material was folded at the bottom of the bag. BIG MISTAKE! Take note readers! Never bag your precious clothes in a dust proof bag. Simply because the moths can get in. Duuuuhhhh Emma! Never let any material fold at the bottom of the bag. Moths love this. They can lay egg after egg knowing that they will not be seen nor disturbed.
In early August, I was packing for our holiday in Greece and decided to take my dress. The Greece trip was my 'Fur Coat' holiday compared with the No Knickers, credit crunch, caravan, holiday top-up in early July. I opened the bag to discover one dead moth and several holes amongst the folds of my beautiful Grecian party dress! I was mortified. My husband, who was in the room, frantically hopped around, livid, exclaiming what a waste of bl….y money we invested in the really expensive pest destructors I had bought in! After cooling my head, I gently explained to him that this was entirely my own fault.
So, the little blighters have scored a victory. But not for long, I tell ya! Not for long! Until next time.
Signing off,
Fur Coat
