We know some of the connotations about shopping at BHS. It feels a little bit like the Argos of the clothing world. A few years ago there were some great FCaNK style bargains to be swept up at BHS. At the moment, BHS have some good value work wear that serve it's purpose in your wardrobe. The rules for shopping at BHS are to keep it simple, avoid patterned, floral fabrics and bright colour tones. These are all a cheap giveaway. Occasion wear is not a style strength here and to be avoided.
The Shopping List
- Excellent value work jackets as long as they are kept ultra simple. You might need your own buttons. £35+
- Simple shift work dresses. £30+
- Cut out shirts in muted tones. £15+
- Great value linen trousers and regular work trousers. £15+
Purchase With Care
Avoid patterns and florals.
BHS do not excel in this area! Keep it simple.
Avoid mid length skirts.
The designs can be very dowdy!
Bag Alert!
The quality and styling does not match the surprisingly high prices.
Avoid bright colour ways
BHS do not do bright colours well at all!
Occasion wear isn't their strength.
Occasion wear is difficult to do well. It requires great tailoring and fantastic colour sense. At the moment, BHS occasion wear is a tiny bit cheesy and unimaginative..but we will see what they come up with for Autumn/Winter 09
Shoe Alert!
Shoes on the whole are extremely grim at BHS! Don't go there !
