Graphic Tees, Shorty Shorts and Swimwear...'May 10

This month, No Knickers has been hunting down some super cool graphic tee shirts whilst Fur Coat has discovered a fabulous glass jewellery company!  We also turn our attention to the all important subject of swimwear! Let's hope the Met Office are right and we get a BBQ Summer so there will be plenty of opportunities to wear these beauties! Lastly, we take a look at shorty shorts and offer a couple of options for those of us who are blessed with bigger thighs than we would like! No Knicker's big tip for this conundrum are Harem shorts.  They are the perfect cover up!

Noel and Galea - FCaNK Boutique of the MonthNoel and Galea rings

Noel & Galea launch their exquisite glass jewellery this month with FCaNK.  If you want a statement piece of glass jewellery, then look no further than Noel & Galea. Glass rings, snake pendants and spiral pendants are their specialty. FCaNK particularly love their glass rings (which are at a true FCaNK price of £20!) We love this one on the right as it is the perfect colour for the on-trend safari styling this summer.  The glass is hand blown and comes in a myriad of styles and a kaleidoscope of colours.  When you view the jewellery collection together, it is truly a feast for the eyes. Check out the Noel and Galea Boutique at FCaNK  and see for yourself! Look out for Noel and Galea on their own website soon. In the meantime click through to our Boutique or email Noel and Galea on noelandgalea@aol.co.uk.

Graphic Tees

No Knickers thinks that the "I love Paris" craze is over and she is super bored of it ...especially since FCaNK were writing about it a year ago! We think that French Connection win the FCaNK prize for the best high street graphic tee. We love the Blondie Tee which can only be found in shops rather than online.. sorry! If you like a fun take on a graphic bow, we like this one from boo hoo.com  for £8 and this fab french perfume bottle tee and a Russian doll tee for £14-16 from our friends at ASOS.com ...we love it! Click on the links to find out more!

No Knickers Tips on Graphic Tees

  • The graphic tee can be difficult to get right because you don't want to look like a member of a hen party on a Frankie goes to Hollywood weekend in Bognor! There is a fine line and it is good to be cautious in case you cross it!
  • Watch out that you don't look like a walking Athena poster...for those of you who don't remember Athena....think poodles in pots and cats wearing sunglasses...too much cheese to be ironic!
  • FCaNK hates the boobs making a statement syndrome...writing on the boobs that you are meant to read...we think NOT!
  • Look at the quality of the cotton...see through tops even with writing just aren't pretty!
  • Graphic tees should express who you are, so avoid something with "Ibiza Rocks" if you struggle to enjoy a last generation disco!

Carry On Shorty Shorts!

Short shorts La RedouteOur FCaNK friends already know what we are going to say about shorty shorts....it all depends on the quality of our legs.  As this is a bit boring, let's have a real look at this fashion driven long leg statement. FCaNK actually think shorty shorts are a lot more flattering than the hot pant and less dull than knee length culottes which are a bit ho-hum this season!! Banana Republic have some great styling ideas for shorty shorts and we like their no fuss safari range. Both shorts on the right and left are from La Redoute and we think they are La Redoute shorty shorts £20cutesome little french numbers. Lovely styling with a tan wedge! Click on the pictures to find the web page! No Knickers doesn't own any shorts...mostly because she has been blighted with thread veins, cellulite and incredible hockey thighs...so she looks like a safari ranger or a cub scout whenever shorts pass the knees!
In theory though we love shorty shorts and think anyone under thirty with great legs should go for it..really, we do!  However there are a few  "shorts" that we have fallen in love with if you don't fulfill that criteria!!

A Quick Word on the on trend 'Harem'

HOF Therapy Harem Pants
  • Click here to check out these Topshop harem shorts.  We love them as they are shorts posing as a skirt, but a bit more effectively than the culotte. They are fabulously feminine!
  • These harem pants (see right) from Therapy are great too for £20, very on trend and great with a pair of funky heels....don't be afraid..have fun!
  • Final tip on harem shorts/pants...don't wear with frilly tops because it can look a bit Elizabethan...go for simple styling on top because you are making a big statement at the bottom!!

Swimwear

Boden SwimwearNo Knickers hates the whole swimming thing and would rather be rolled up the beach in a Victorian cart and a pair of pantaloons...who better to give us tips on swimwear?! Actually Fur Coat is the expert, she's Australian...and loves all that splashing in the surf stuff!
The best swimwear for zero boobage this summer has to be the Boden Daisy range (see right)...bikini, tankini or swimming costume...we love it! The ample petals camouflage the boob deficiency which No Knickers is most pleased about.  Boden costumes are always worth the extra cash. They stand out from all the other lycra mixes in the pool and are built to last. Hurrah! Click on the picture to go straight to Boden! Fabulous!
No Knickers thinks that a Boden swimming costume is the ultimate pool accessory. With this one simple item, you can deceive people into believing you own a 4x4, your husband's a banker and your Mulberry bag is in the swim locker...oh my gosh we have just described Fur Coat!!
It's not worth spending a load of cash on swimwear...unless you are particularly committed to Missoni patterns or Issa fabrics. If you are looking in the August sale,  FCaNK particularly like Heidi Klein for simple but elegant time worn classics. All available at Matches fashion of course!
Storm in a D Cup is brilliant for holding you up and in, if you are lucky and born with larger boobs. Unfortunately, her collection is still 2009 but the beaded halter neck is a classic fave with our well endowed friends!

Swimwear tips:Swimwear

  • The two most important parts of swimwear are the gusset and the boob cups. No Knickers bought a budget swimming costume once that had obviously cut costs on the gusset and the results were disastrous...even with a Brazilian! Take it from us, you need a good old reliable gusset. Boobs cups should be strengthened and strong. Again these can often be lacking in budget buys. Boden often slip in extra padding for boobless beauties.
  • If you are really unhappy with your tummy, stretch marks, muffin tops or flab rolls, the tankini is  a flattering compromise.  We advise you to spend more on a good quality article because the material is often thicker and the length of the top a bit longer. Debenhams have a fantastic tummy tuck range. We love this black slimming one, click and take a peek !
  • Boy leg swimming costumes and bikini's shorten the legs so unless you are built like a giraffe...we advise you to steer clear...no matter how vintage you are!
  • Metallics. They look great with a tan and perfect sun but to be avoided unless you are blessed with olive tones....but no matter what your skin tone, if you are holidaying in North Wales...metallics are not for you!
That's all from us this month, next month, we scour the high street for wedding outfits, shoes and hats.  We'll give you the low down so don't panic about those little white shiny envelopes covered in confetti...we'll be here to help!! Fur Coat is also going to hunt down some flattering apparel to wear with your swim wear for a blog and No Knickers is hitting the banking scene so let's see what she comes up with for smart casual workwear! Let us know if you have any burning questions for your wardrobe this season (email: suzie@fcank.com or emma@fcank.com)

Until then.... Keep sending us your comments ..

Happy days ladies,
