FCaNK Are Mad For March 2010 Accessories!

FCaNK are mad for accessories this month and are proud to present an exclusive preview of Francesca Rossi Designs. We adore her aesthetic flair to make distinctive pieces using jewels, fabrics and beads from across the world. Take a peek in the FCaNK boutique to browse her designs.
The iconic British mac takes centre stage in March...No Knickers has always been unable to afford a mac, opting for an umbrella and shivering in a spring jacket...however Fur Coat believes it's a brilliant investment buy... why not tell us what you think?!
No one can argue about spring scarves, they are a must for the month...if you do nothing else....treat yourself to this on trend neck accessory!

Exclusive Boutique of the Month...

Francesca Rossi DesignsFrancesca Rossi designs are utterly fabulous. FCaNK particularly love Francesca's beaded cuffs and can see them gaining celebrity status in the future! Browse our Boutique page for this jewellery newcomer!

Alexander McQueen scarfSpring Scarves Alert! On Trend for SS10

Scarves say so much about our personality as well as adding a bit of warmth when needed.  This season, it's all about mixing up your colours and wearing scarves with lots of style status!! The more mismatched, the better really!  We are loving the current surf style trend scarves mixed with a leather jacket, jeans and ankle boots.

You can go sky high with Fur Coat and pick up one like this from Alexander McQueen at Matches or shop with No Knickers and pick one up some fab ones from Zara or Topshop . Actually, we both prefer to go for a vintage addition so have a look in Beyond Retro if you are in London or find a faithful vintage shop near you!

FCaNK think that the V&A are excelling themselves as a fashion haven and have adapted the Alastair Morton fabrics to come up with a divine scarf...just adorable for £25...pre order at the V&A online. We also love the spotty Indian scarves and the iconic William Morris florals...hilarious for a 2010 take on the days of the 80's Sloane! Take a peek in the V&A Boutique.

Playsuits...Are You Game to Wear One?!

Matches Fashion Velvet Cotton Playsuit £95Can we start by saying that FCaNK thinks that you need a Cindy Crawford figure and long Farah Fawcett hair to wear one of these beauties!  Forget it if you are slightly pudgy and sporting a mullet, this is not on trend for you or for many of us this season! That said, playsuits are a shorter version of the also on trend 80's jumpsuit that we actually quite like! You might be asking if we are taking this new play suit  trend very seriously?! No, we are not! We think that they look really naff on most everyday ordinary people. If you are thinking of investing in one of these pieces, it would be best to follow these few guidelines! Stick to dark plain colours - because the playsuit is enough of a statement. Steer away from florals or you really will look like a 5 year old! We love this toned down version of the playsuit by the label Velvet.  It is something that you could throw on after a day at the beach...but anymore...not so sure!

The Bangles Are Off! Gold Versus Silver Accessories

Peaches Daisy NecklaceAre you one of those people who is in either the gold or silver camp? Or do you flit between the two?

To a large extent, this will depend on your skin tone.  The best way to find out which precious metal suits you most is to hold up a gold or silver scarf to your face in a mirror (No Knickers uses tinfoil for the same silver effect!) If you look carefully you will notice that one makes you look washed out and lifeless and drains you of colour whereas the other brings the colours of your eyes and face to life! If you can't see it..you might have to pay a lot of money to Colour Me beautiful...so try harder or get a friend to help you!

Fur coat is pale and suits silver or a mix of gold and silver (she looks her most radiant with the foils in her hair at the hairdresser!). No Knickers, with her golden skin tones, suits gold jewellery and silver makes her look tired and grey!Mirabelle Harmonia Cuff

If you think gold and brass colours are silver's poor cousin, think again! We adore this Brass Mirabelle Harmonia Cuff from Red Direct...just incredible for £37. We think Made jewellery designs are putting golden shades back on the accessory map with their use of brass. This very on trend charm necklace designed by Peaches Geldof is made out of recycled bone and brass...ethical and beautiful...we love you Made! Check out more on how to wear jewellery at FCaNK.

And Lastly, the Mac is Back For Another Rainy Season!

La Redoute Trench CoatFCaNK loves a bit of Mac action. They are such a versatile Spring and sometimesOrla Kiely Tangerine Mac Summer addition to a wardrobe.  Gone are the days when we were limited to the Burberry (as iconic as it is!) style Mac. These days, you can pick them up in all sorts of styles, colourways and fabrics! Best of all, they are available at all ranges of the pricing scale too.

Banana Republic have styled some fantastic trench coats this season. We like their ivory trench for £140+.  No Knickers loves this ivory trench coat from la Redoute .  At £32.50, it's a steal!

Fur Coat finds the No Knickers understated trench a bit depressing and much prefers Karen Millen's new season's mustard Mac or the Orla Kiely Tangerine dream for £360.  It is pricey but wait around, it may go on sale!

Zara, as always provide great tailored trench coats at No Knickers prices ...just watch out for weather proofing and ethics!  You can always scoot down to Dotty P and pick yourself up one of their bargain Macs for a mere £50, there are an array of colours to choose from. We especially like their swing style macs.

Here are a few tips for buying your perfect rainy day cover-up!
  • Always check the material and make sure that it is on the thicker side. This will lend to a structured look, rather than a crumpled, wet rag!
  •  Check if the Mac is either shower resistant or rain resistant. Obviously, it is better if it is rain resistant, but you will pay a premium for this!
  • Avoid overly patterned Macs as they will date and you may end up looking like a 6 year old from a Boden catalogue! The only exception to this rule would have to be the iconic Orla Keily 'House Coat' Mac.
  • Don't forget our tips on colour ways...some designs can look cheap in certain colours and more expensive in others...we don't think you can go wrong with the Burberry beige...it's a guaranteed FCaNK success.
  • The lining of a Mac is really important especially if you are paying Fur Coat prices, look out for pretty, sophisticated linings that add some price status to your everyday outerwear!!

As days are getting longer and skirts are getting shorter...we'll keep you up to date with all the latest fashion tips we think are important. March is a transition month and after a long hard winter, peeling off a jumper layer can make you feel as naked as a peeled banana! We suddenly become aware of legs that need a jolly good wax and pale skin that should never be allowed to see the sun and extra bits of winter blubber that we want to lose before the sun starts shining...but FCaNK friends...take it easy...and calm down...the sun may be shining, but Summer isn't quite around the corner yet!!

Happy Days Ladies! Signing Off
