Maximus Fashion Vengeance
Gladiator sandals are seriously on trend this season..every high street store are seeking to strap our ankles this Summer! As always, FCaNK have a few things to say! As with most fashion items, a great deal depends on your body canvas! Gladiators are fabulous on tanned, mediterranean or black skin, worn with a khaki shirt dress or something similar. BUT Glads are a disaster worn with pale toes, puffy ankles and mottled post waxed skin ..believe me ...I should know!! So if you are not born with all year round great legs and can only muster a hint of lobster at the best of times..stay away!!
If you do fit the Gladiator criteria....we have found some No Knicker favourites and have a few tips!
- We wouldn't spend more than £30 on Glads because we think they will have a three month fashion frenzy and will be forgotten next season...let's wait and see!
- Check the colour of the leather against you skin tone...murky grey colours or black might not boost your skin tone as much as the brown tan colours ..this is an important consideration...as important as which clothes you have got to wear with them.
- Go for a simple look for clothing...unless you have the height and legs of a model because too much flounce and flowers with Glads can look a bit style less!
We are loving New Look's low key Gladiators...a really lovely compromise between fashion hysteria and a realistic, wearable shoe! We think that New look have done really well in creating some great value strappies for us this season. For a more demure recognition of roman fashion fun you might like their strappy sandal that is very presentable for those of us who aren't wanting to overwhelmed by too much strapping.
This sandal comes in three different colours but if you are pale skinned this tan colour may look best on you!I personally don't have the legs or the ankles to brave either of these styles so if this is the case for you please don't get despondent because the giant wedge is here to save our giant pins! More on the wedge another day! Until then....
Happy Days Ladies!
