A Quest For Dawn Tinsley Trousers

As you know, we hate the dull monotony of the black office trouser..worse case scenario... worn with plain, coloured t.shirt and black ballet pumps...oh dear. Think Dawn Tinsley on a bad day!
 
Thanks to my studies, I am doing some temporary work for a commercial bank...don't worry before you think I have betrayed the No Knickers poverty clause...I am not being paid! However, none of my No Knickers business dresses would suit the audience in this male dominated environment so I have had to ditch fashion drama and take a peek at some run of the mill office trousers...I can't afford a suit so I am dragging out an old bolero jacket and will make do!

I gave myself a lunch break and a £35 price point to find a pair of black work trousers..but the lunch break soon turned into a six hour retailathon nightmare! I trawled through New Look, River Island, Zara, H&M, BHS, Miss Selfridge, Next, Debenhams, H.O.F, Warehouse. The trousers either had huge saddle bags for ample hips or had badly tailored pockets, creating creases and drawing gruesome and unnecessary attention to the groin area..hideous! Other trousers were ok in shape but had ridiculous styling..buttons, belts and cheap stitching..yikes. For some of the worst trousers the material was so manmade it made your hand sweat to touch it! However, M&S Autograph trousers were the best fit and most comfy to wear but they didn't have my size...now I was desperate.

I decided to blow the annual budget and go up a notch...or three. I started with Jigsaw and Hobbs...Reiss...Joseph...too tight on the thighs..now I was crying... Marc Cain...Donna K...beautiful dresses and suits. I could pretend I was a chief executive for the day and not eat for four months..by now I was in such a state that this felt like a good rationale!

Finally, I found myself in Mango, trying on a pair of 80's high waisters..ready for dejection and with my phone on speed dial to the bank to arrange a loan and a transfer to Donna K ...I finally looked in the mirror. These trousers are perfect..a touch of style, with an Ashes to Ashes 80's top ..just fabulous and £34.99 in the sale. ..glorious! A perfect costume for No Knickers living it blonde in the banking lane!
