The No Knickers Christmas Tree
As always at advent, I fall for the idea that my house can look like a manicured show home from the 1st of December until the final pine needles drop around about the 2nd of January..how wrong I am!
Last year I had high hopes from my Christmas Tree but it was a sorry state to behold! I dangled a few very tasteful and pound stretching baubles on my Nordmann Fir, added some very tasteful white lights and thought this would give me the FCANK look I dreamt of for my tree. But on a cold winter's eve, I had the chance to meet the fairy godmother of Christmas tree dressings and she taught me how to decorate a proper, bells and whistles, singing and dancing Christmas tree.
The secret is ...less is not more..buy loads of simple, plain, shiny, baubles and cover your tree in them ...think 40+ baubles rather than a tasteful 15! This doesn't have to cost you loads..buy in bulk..at TK MAXX, M&S, supermarkets.. wherever but just make sure that the baubles are a tasteful colour and glitter free..because they often look really cheap and the glitter falls off before the partridge sits on the pear tree!
If you want to be really clever, attach a trio of mixed colour baubles to the end of branches using wire and add lengths of ribbon for effect, to drape around the tree.
I still haven't worked out what to attach at the top of the tree this year..normally Barbie sits up there..but I think I will give her a miss this year..she's too skinny!
Happy Days Ladies xx
