Hobbs

Hobbs has changed it's colours this season. They have become, dare we say it, fashionable! Now, Hobbs cannot accuse of saying this. A shop assistant at their Westfield store told us that. "Hobbs has become fashionable!" Our blurb did consist of words like "this is a fabulous store if your tastes lean towards the conservative, safe and pricey, blah blah blah."  Well no more.

Enter their new NW3 label. Do you think that the designers read our blurb?! Who knows, but is is good news for everyone. This is a colourful fashionable (their words) label. Colour, sequins and silk have been injected into this label aimed at the 20-30 year old demographic. The dresses and skirts tend to be above the knee (a whiff of Karen Millen). Colour coats and jackets are on sale in all sorts of styles. Check it out. It is alot of fun. We particularly love their tights and socks ranging from £5-£10. They come in funky colours and patterns to adorn your tootsies in the winter.

Their classic Hobbs label still serves the well paid working woman with conservative good quality work and weekend wear.  They also have launched a Limited Edition range. All of these can be found on their website.

On the day that I visited, it was the only store on the high street where I was asked if I needed any assistance. They certainly get a point for that as most other stores fall short badly in this area! Hobbs caters for sizes 4-16. Hobbs have high quality office wear, if a little conservative,  and functional dresses injected with some style.

• Leather belts @£49 and leather bags @£199. Their 'iconic' leather bag costs £199 and comes in a tan colour. It was nice but not terribly exciting or inspiring.
• Functional weekend wear.
• Floral polyester mix maxi dress @£179. Very pretty but I would shop at Coast first.
• Good conservative wedding/special occasion wear. Green cropped linen jacket @£169

Look at the sole of the shoe

Even though the shoes are labeled "Made in Italy", their soles are very rigid. This does not bode well for someone who intends to traipse the office or stand at a wedding reception for long hours!
